A Valentine Day Special

Being single again means I will be staying at home wearing my sackcloth and mourn this coming V-day. awh.... :(

BUT being so generous and great in my spirit, as Love Guru, I shall give TIPS here for those happy couples and wannabes how you can have a memorable and great Valentine Day.

Yes, I know you are tearing with gratitude.
Yes, I know you are DESPERATE to get a DATE this V-Day

Anyway this entry will definitely will help you make V-Day 2007 the most memorable yet!

So stop the anti-Valentine Day crap! Any excuse to celebrate LOVE is a great thing.
And even if you are not into dating, there are fun things you can do if you are GAME dudes!!!!

Let's start with those who are already dating and have absolutely no idea what to do.
Dun fret. LOVE GURU is here. Just remember to kowtow to me when you see me.

FOR THE DATING COUPLES

The Bible says "Money is Everything" and it is true. However that doesn't mean you must spend a lot of money in order to make your significant other happy.

I am going to give you a general backbone of what to do. (not everything you goon!)
Please use your creativity and luuuurrve to customize and make it as sweet and touching as possible for your dearie.
I am speaking on my point of view and opinion and not everybody feels the same so dun argue.
If you feel that it wun work, then dun do it lor. ;P

#1 Agree on a time to meet.
For me, to 'bluff' to your gf that you are busy on V-day and then suddenly 'pop' up to surprise her is one of the lamest and lousiest surprises anyone could get.
You make her feel great 1 day but feel like a loser many days before the day.

Also if you have not formally ask her yet, pls repent and do so ASAP. Taking for granted that as your gf = automatically go out with you on V-day are only for lazy loser boyfriends.

Of course dun be stupid and tell her what you are about to do. But say things like "I am going to make you the happiest girl this V-day" to keep her excited and antipicated.
Dun worry about disappointing her. Be confident and give your 100%. And follow my instructions.

#2 Choose the Places to Go
Have more than 1 venue as it creates something mysterious and fresh. Not more than 3 as too many is tiring. So the golden number is TWO.
Due to the lack of time, I am going to give some rough ideas only for those who are working/schooling and is unable to meet in the morning/afternoon.
In other words, after 5 activities.

a) Dinner Place
Unless you and your special one dun eat for various reasons, the logical first stop will be the place where you will have your dinner...duh.

Usually most restaurants will be kinda noisy and almost impossible to be cosy and grand unless you have money to go to more private and exclusive places which will cost you a bomb during V-day. (if you got the money, go for it man!)

Dun worry, I have an alternative plan for those couples who like to have quality conversation as they eat and dun have so much to book luxury places. BUT lots of work and you need to have a car or book a cab for the day etc.

Alternative Place #1: Beach
For those couples who are not particular about good food (trust me, it will taste like crap no matter how hard you prepare or da bao)

Find a good spot (as ulu as possible so only possible for those who drives)
I believe the beach will be quite populated during V-day so definitely wun be super private but it is still good to have quality conversation.

Pitch a tent
-Bring those battery-operated torchlights or lamps. Candles are kinda out as the winds will be too strong and impossible to place properly in the tent (depending the size)
- Bring a CD-Player (hp music still cannot make it la)
- Bring your guitar if you know how to play well.
- Bring things that both of you will enjoy doing together (board games, laptop games, dvd)
Just make sure your lights are powerful enough and you have enough battery if you are using your laptop.

Alternative Place #2: Condominium Function Room/KTV Room (GURU RECOMMENDED!!)
Must book early la, cos surely got people also think of such ingenious plan.
But if really cannot book, then your bedroom is a choice but you gotta really decorate it really nicely cos the moment she knows that you all are going to your house, she confirm sian 1/2.

- Get great and free friends to help decorate the place. (rose petals, balloons, banners etc)
- Get Big Big Pillows + Comforters + Sofa cushions and create a corner where both of you can snuggle and enjoy your champange after the sumptous dinner.
- Music is a must
- If your gf is those types who likes to have friends around, you can hire friends to be your waitress or waiter (pls pay them)
- Food wise can just da bao but presentation wise must be top notch lar. Arrange in terms of course will be best. (starters, main, deserts)
- Increase fun by creating a fun menu (orders include hugs and kisses or dance and other performances by you)


b) Second Destination

Depending on what the both of you like to do... it varies.
The second destination should be the opp of what you did in the first destination.

For e.g if you went to the beach (soothing), perhaps you will like to end by going to town to watch movie or St James Powerstation to dance and drink (more happening)

Or if you went to the expensive restaurant or have a fun exciting time at the function room, you may want to end it at the beach saying sweet nothings to each other :)

FOR THOSE WHO SUCCEEDED IN ASKING THE GIRL OUT FOR VDAY

Dudes, if you have not ask by now.... you are soooooooooooooo late already.

Not much tips on how to ask though. You gotta simply just ask.
Try not to ask via sms or msn. (super not sincere :(...)
Calling or in person is much more personal. Must respect the girl you like.

Congrats to those who asked and got the "yes" reply. Now to make sure your date will not be a disaster.
The above suggestions for couples will be too extreme for first dates.
However if you are on the verge of getting together, the above suggestions will be more appropriate than the below.

First date (or first few): What can you do then?
- Go to nice normal restaurant. It is quite noisy but good for first dates cos you may get too awkward and silence will just make it even worse.
- Pay for the meal guys. Dun be stingy.
- Have quality conversation. Be interested in the person.
- Take note of certain things she shared (will be useful for your future use)
- Go for a drink at some nice music bar or catch a movie depending on her personality.
- Send her back.
- Call her shortly to thank her for the wonderful time and to wish her good night.

ALL ABOUT THE GIFTS/FLOWERS/BEARS

What is V-day without gifts, flowers etc????

SOME DOs and DONTs.

Flowers/Chocs/Bears are liken to WRAPPERS. They are not the main gift and shouldnt be.
- Do not buy one stalk or 3 stalks. Get at least a bouquet of 12!
Why? Because almost every girl on the street will carry a nice big bouquet. Dun embarrass her with a tiny stalk. Come on, she deserved the best!!! :)
- You CANNOT date a woman out on V-day without flowers. Even if she is not particular about flowers. It is about FACE. And making her feel proud and great.
Unless she hates flowers to the core or is allergy to them. But RARE la... who doesnt like pretty things?
- Bears are optional - only if she really likes attention and soft toys
- Plastic transparent wrapping for flowers is a NO NO... So ugly... Pls go to a nice florist shop.
- Depending on your budget, get her a nice gift. Wrapped nicely.
- Write her a nice long meaningful letter - hand written, add in some sketches if you can. (GURU RECOMMENDED)
- Make her a card if you have the time.
- Compose a song
- Please compliment her appearance the first thing you do.

UPDATES!!!! Dear Ber reminded me that girls should do something for their guys.
Besides buying ridicuously expensive gifts for our men, the best thing you can ever do is to constantly compliment him and appreciate him for every little thing he did for you.

Show off the things he did to your friends, his friends, your family etc. Let him know you appreciate him alot alot. :)
